The Flatlanders, a band that features Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, and Jimmie Dale Gilmore, are reuniting after a two-year hiatus to play a benefit show for SaveTownLake.org (STL). SaveTownLake.org is championing an issue that the Flatlanders care about, the preservation of one of Austin, Texas’ most precious resources, Town Lake and the Town Lake Corridor.
The event kicks off STL’s public awareness campaign that will include radio, television, print and electronic media. The show will be at Antone’s January 6, 2007 with an all-star cast including Jimmy LaFave, Bob Livingston, Bill Oliver, Tucker Livingston, Thom the World Poet and Special Surprise Guests. Produced by Texas Music International (www.TexasMusic.org). Doors open at 7 p.m.

SaveTownLake.org’s mission is to protect and preserve Austin’s most precious resource: Town Lake and the Town Lake Corridor (TLC). SaveTownLake.org supports responsible development along the Town Lake Corridor while promoting public awareness of the City’s highest regulatory standards. SaveTownLake.org advocates for strong adherence to current City code, especially the Waterfront Overlay established in 1985. SaveTownLake.org’s goal is to maintain the integrity of the TLC so that Austinites of all generations and socio-economic backgrounds can take advantage of the quality of life afforded to us by Town Lake – the soul of the City.
